This page lists all the conditions required to unlock content in Megabonk. The game refers to meeting these conditions as completing Quests.

How Quests Work in Megabonk

It's important to understand that the "Quest" system in Megabonk doesn't function like a traditional quest log found in many other games. This can be a common point of confusion for new players.

The key difference is: There are no formal quest names. The "quest" is the objective or condition you are required to meet.

You won't find a list in-game with entries like "Slay the Forest Boss." Instead, the game tracks dozens of hidden objectives in the background. When you fulfill one of these conditions, you automatically complete the "quest" and receive the unlock associated with it.

A simple comparison
  • In a traditional RPG:
    • You receive a quest named "Unlock the Warrior".
    • The objective is to "Clear Forest Tier 1."
    • Upon completion, you get a notification: "Quest Complete: Unlock the Warrior!"
  • In Megabonk:
    • You play the game and manage to "Clear Forest Tier 1."
    • Upon completion, you simply get a notification: "CL4NK Unlocked!"

The act of clearing the tier is the quest itself. The extensive tables on this wiki page are a comprehensive list of all these objectives and their corresponding rewards.

Types of Quest Conditions

To better understand the requirements, we can group most quests into four main categories based on the type of objective:

  • Milestone Quests: These are completed by reaching cumulative statistical goals. They are the primary measure of your overall progress.
    • Examples: Complete 25 total quests, Kill 15,000 total enemies, Block 500 damage with Armor.
  • Mastery & Performance Quests: These require you to demonstrate skill by performing a difficult feat within a single run.
    • Examples: Defeat a Stage Boss in under 5 minutes, Survive for 2 minutes without taking any damage, Win a run without picking up any power-ups.
  • Exploration & Interaction Quests: These are completed by finding secrets or interacting with specific objects on the map.
    • Examples: Find the hidden Banana, Activate all the boomboxes on the Forest map, Use a Shrine of Suc 8 times.
  • Specific Loadout Quests: These require you to achieve a goal using a particular character, weapon, tome, or a combination of them.
    • Examples: Kill 15,000 enemies as CL4NK, Upgrade the Damage Tome to level 7, Kill 100 cactus enemies with Thorns damage.
