Megabonk v1.0.64 Patch Notes
Overview
Megabonk v1.0.64 adds a large batch of new hats and achievements, a new Megachad skin, lost save recovery tools, UI improvements, balance changes, and bug fixes.
This page also includes the follow-up v1.0.65 and v1.0.69 hotfix notes.
New Content
- Cosmetics: 21 new hats and related achievements.
- Skin: New Megachad skin.
Lost Save Recovery
A new recovery button has been added under the Other section in Settings.
This feature uses Steam Achievements to recover as much lost progress as possible when save files are lost due to Steam Cloud issues, Megabonk errors, or other save problems.
Limitations:
- It cannot fully restore every save file.
- In-game achievements that are not tracked by Steam cannot be recovered.
- It should still recover most Steam achievement-based unlock progress.
UI Changes
- Banished items are now visible in the pause menu and when opening a chest or shrine.
- Stats now show while holding Tab and viewing the map.
- Added a new window in the Unlocks tab showing which stats are upgradable and useful for different weapons.
- The Unlocks tab also shows all stats unique to each character.
- The weapon/stat helper window was suggested by NintenDoingIt on reddit.
Balance Changes
- Pots and Vases now give a small amount of luck that scales with the stage.
- This was suggested by nate_codes.
- This increases the value of collecting pots, movement, map routing, Movement Speed, and the Pumpkin item.
- Robinette's passive was slightly buffed in late game.
- Damage per 1k gold after 1M gold increased (2.5% → 3.5%).
- Feathers now give about 10% more forward speed when jumping.
- Feathers now give +1 jumps.
- Bone now has higher default knockback (1.25 → 1.5).
- Bone no longer has Knockback as an upgrade offer.
- Bone now offers Crit Chance and Crit Damage instead.
- Shotgun now has higher default knockback (2.5 → 3).
- Shotgun no longer has Knockback as an upgrade offer.
- Shotgun now offers Crit Damage instead.
- Vlad now has 5% flat Lifesteal added to character stats.
- Robinette now has 5% flat Gold Gain added to character stats.
- Spaceman now has 5% flat XP Gain added to character stats.
- The maximum number of Za Warudos obtainable per run is now 25.
Other Changes
- Fixed issues where some character heads or hats clipped through the Santa Hat.
- Items no longer tick or proc in the order they were obtained.
- Item proc order is now based on item enum name.
- This makes item behavior more consistent and prevents pickup order from affecting item behavior.
- XP shards now have small size differences, making higher-value XP shards easier to distinguish.
- Level-up screens no longer inherit old forward/backward movement input and move the cursor selection.
- Characters can now be spun in Character Selection to view them from different angles.
- Use mouse input or controller shoulder buttons / triggers.
- Lowered the volume of Scythe.
- Added a new Effects setting: Enemy Attack Indicator Color.
- This changes the color of the red spheres that indicate where an enemy attack will hit.
- Added a new Effects setting: XP & Gold increase text.
- This toggles the small text next to the player showing XP and gold gained.

Bug Fixes
- Fixed Steam Rich Presence errors that could sometimes stop achievements from working properly in-game.
- Fixed an issue where having more than 350 items could sometimes fail score uploads to the leaderboards.
- Fixed a Dicehead bug where receiving multiple levels at once from a large XP gain only triggered the passive once.

- Fixed a bug where Chunkers was only affected by its own Projectile Speed stat, not the Player Stat.

- Fixed a bug where Joe's Dagger Execute sometimes did no damage.

- Fixed a bug where Roberto's ghost chests could spawn inside walls on the Boss Stage.
- Fixed a bug where players could get 5 tomes or weapons with auto leveling enabled.

- Fixed a bug where poison could sometimes bring the player below 0 HP and kill them.

- Fixed a bug where some projectiles did not properly change opacity.
- Fixed a bug where Spicy Meatball and Bush's passive Bullseye repeatedly multiplied damage with the Elite Damage Multiplier for every Elite Enemy.
- Fixed a bug where that amplified damage was also applied to normal enemies.
- Fixed a UI bug in the Unlocks window where the buy button overlapped with the achievement description.
- Fixed a bug where hats were not affected by the shield outline.
- Fixed a bug where money could keep circling the player and not be picked up.
- Fixed a bug where players could stand on the invisible floor below the final boss arena.
- Fixed a bug where the front swing of Corrupted Sword and Hero Sword only damaged one enemy.
- Fixed a bug where Rollerblades did not work properly after teleporting to the next stage.
v1.0.65 Hotfix
Released January 26, 2026.
- Fixed a Crazy Damage bug that appears to have been caused by Joe's Dagger.
- The developer noted that leaderboards would probably be reset after the update rolled out because current scores were affected by the damage bug.
- Fixed some missing translations.
- Fixed an issue where pressing Tab while loading into Desert could cause a black screen.
- Fixed an issue where Shotgun Crit Damage upgrade gave 0%.

- Fixed an issue where the Top Hat could be unlocked on any stage.

- Fixed an issue where the transparency setting did not work on rockets.

v1.0.69 Hotfix
Released February 4, 2026.
- Fixed a bug where banishing all weapons, then maxing weapons and tomes without filling all weapon slots, could boost the player to level 9999.
- Fixed an issue where using Auto Leveling to pick a tome did not give stats for the first level.

- Fixed some translation issues.
- Fixed an issue where Leeching Crystal did not proc Megachad's Flex.

- Fixed an issue where HP Regen had a max cap of 1 per tick.
- HP Regen now stacks high enough healing or loss values like Lifesteal and Kevin.

- Fixed a bug where the Sheriff's Hat achievement could not be unlocked on the final boss fight.
