Leeching Crystal
Leeching Crystal is a Rare Item in Megabonk.
It provides a large boost to Max HP but reduces HP Regen.
Below you can see a small table showing how this item stacks.
| Copies | HP Regen multiplier | Base HP Regen | Actual HP Regen |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | x0.5 | 10 | 5 |
| 2 | x0 | 10 | 0 |
| 3 | x-0.5 | 10 | -5 |
| 4 | x-1 | 10 | -10 |
| 5 | x-1.5 | 10 | -15 |
This means 3 or more Leeching Crystals will result in negative HP Regen which damages you over time. As this functions like a multiplier, increasing your HP Regen stat while having negative HP Regen will result in losing more HP over time rather than less. However negative HP Regen stops damaging you when at 1 HP meaning it is incapable of killing you, it does not damage Shields, and each time it damages you it will trigger any effects that would typically activate upon being hit by an enemy.
Calcium's passive and the Mirror are exceptions and will not be triggered by damage taken from negative HP Regen.
How to Unlock
Upgrade the Regen Tome to Level 8.
Strategy & Synergies
- Charge Shrine bonuses, any HP Regen bonus from Tomes, Medkit, Campfire, and Holy Book HP Regen bonuses are all affected by this item's multiplier and are not viable sources of healing when you have Leeching Crystals.
- Any Lifesteal bonuses, Borgar, Beacon, Demonic Blade, and Slurp Gloves will still heal you normally regardless of negative HP Regen. Focus on these for your healing if you plan to take Leeching Crystals.
- Negative HP Regen from this item can be useful for triggering the effects of the Electric Plug, Golden Shield, and Coward's Cloak without requiring you to take hits from enemies.
- This item is useful for keeping your HP at 1 to maximize the damage potential of the Corrupted Sword and also enabling it to be used alongside the Holy Book without sacrificing any damage output. It can also be used to maximize the Damage bonus of the Gamer Goggles, however that item's value is questionable at best even with its maximum bonus active at all times.
