"I don't know how to pronounce his name."
CL4NK is an unlockable character in Megabonk.
It is unlocked by completing Forest Tier 1. CL4NK starts with the Revolver and specializes in critical hits.
When playing as CL4NK, teleport to the second stage on Forest Tier 2 to unlock the Desert map.
How to Unlock
- Complete Forest Tier 1.
- Unlock CL4NK from the Main Menu → Unlocks tab.
Traits
- Default weapon: Revolver
- Crit Happens: +1% Crit Chance per level
- Role: Ranged / Glass Cannon
Strategy Tips
- Focus on items and tomes that boost Crit Chance.
- Performs best in builds that emphasize single-target burst damage.
- Pairs well with Revolver upgrades such as crit, projectile upgrades, attack speed and precision scaling effects
- Keep distance: Because your Revolver has good range (especially later), try to kite or stay at mid‐range. When enemies cluster, fire into them but always leave yourself escape routes. Being surrounded is dangerous before you’ve stacked enough HP or defensive tools.
- Positioning relative to projectiles: If you have wide projectile spread, walls or obstacles can block shots, so try to use open spaces when you want maximum damage. But also be mindful of high-mobility enemies or fast attackers that can close gaps.
- Delayed upgrade or chest picking in some cases. Waiting to pick up chests until your luck / upgrade potential is higher can lead to better rewards. If you find a Luck tome early, hold off chest opening until you have better chances of getting higher-tier loot.
Weaknesses
- Quite fragile early on.
- Slower movement / slower clear speed without good tomes or items, more reliant on getting good upgrades.
Trivia
- Though likely unintentional, CL4NK's appearance is very similar to the Bandit from Risk of Rain II. The developer Ved has said in many instances that Megabonk is a similar game that takes inspiration from Vampire: Survivors and Risk of Rain II. Additionally, both characters are seemingly cybernetic/robot characters with a vaguely Western-themed outfit.
