The Frostwalker is an unlockable weapon in Megabonk that excels at crowd control. Instead of dealing high damage, its primary function is to create a persistent aura that freezes enemies, stopping them in their tracks and making them vulnerable to other attacks.
How to Unlock
Unlocking the Frostwalker is a two-step process that heavily depends on luck (RNG).
- Step 1: Find the Ice Cube Item: First, you must find the Ice Cube during a run. The Ice Cube is a Legendary rarity item, so encountering it is rare.
- Step 2: Freeze 1,000 Enemies: Once you have the Ice Cube, you must use it to freeze a cumulative total of 1,000 enemies. This may take several different runs where you are lucky enough to find the item.
After the condition is met, the Frostwalker must be purchased from the Unlocks tab for 2 Silver.
Strategy and Synergies
Frostwalker is a top-tier utility weapon. It's not meant to be your main source of damage, but rather a tool to set up enemies for your other, more powerful weapons.
- The Freeze 'n' Fry Strategy: The core strategy is to use Frostwalker to lock down large groups of enemies, then obliterate the stationary targets with a high-damage AoE weapon.
- Unique Scaling with Attack Speed: Unlike most aura-type weapons, Frostwalker's freeze pulse frequency is increased by Attack Speed upgrades. This is the most important stat to focus on for this weapon, as it can lead to a near-permanent freeze aura around the player.
- Key Synergies:
- High-Damage AoE Weapons: Frostwalker is the perfect partner for weapons like the Axe, Mines, or Black Hole. It groups and holds enemies still, ensuring maximum damage from your other abilities.
- Attack Speed Tomes/Items: Any upgrade that boosts Attack Speed is a direct upgrade to Frostwalker's crowd control potential.
- Noelle (Character): Noelle's own unlock is related to ice duplication, making her a thematic and effective choice for builds that focus on freezing enemies.
