Added note that Tornadoes pierce enemies. Removed listing Birdo as a synergy because he can't not use the weapon and he's also possibly the worst character to have this weapon on as its utility is nearly completely lost on him due to his excellent mobility making it much less likely to end up surrounded without an easy way out. Also removed redundant information from the synergy section + specified what aimed weapons means & added a mention that Size is important for this weapon.

The Tornado is an unlockable weapon in Megabonk that serves as a powerful defensive and crowd-control tool. Its primary function is not to deal high damage, but to control the battlefield by launching multiple tornadoes that push hordes of enemies away from the player.

How to Unlock (Environmental Challenge)

Unlocking the Tornado requires the player to be observant and take advantage of a random weather event. The condition is to successfully charge one Charge Shrine while a Sandstorm is active.

Challenge Guide:

  1. Play on a Desert Stage: The Sandstorm event only occurs on the Desert maps.
  2. Locate a Charge Shrine: As you play, find the location of a Charge Shrine but do not use it immediately.
  3. Wait for a Sandstorm: Stay near the shrine and continue fighting. Sandstorms are random events that will drastically reduce visibility and change the music.
  4. Activate the Shrine: The moment the Sandstorm begins, interact with the Charge Shrine to complete the quest.

After the condition is met, the Tornado must be purchased from the Unlocks tab for 2 Silver.

Strategy and Synergies

The Tornado is the ultimate weapon for creating "breathing room." Its value comes from its ability to give the player space and time to think, reposition, or set up other attacks.

  • Defensive Control: The main strategy is to use the tornadoes as a moving wall to keep enemies at a safe distance. This is especially useful for characters with low movement speed or when facing overwhelming numbers.
  • Upgrade Path: To maximize its defensive capability, focus on Knockback, Projectile Count, and Size. More & larger tornadoes with stronger pushback will create an almost impenetrable barrier.
  • Aimed Weapons: The Tornado pairs well with the Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, and Dragon's Breath as it can help keep enemies from swarming you while aiming their attacks.

The Tornado can receive upgrades in the following stats upon leveling up:
