Aegis is a defensive weapon in Megabonk. It creates a protective barrier that blocks enemy hits and releases shockwaves, combining offense and defense in a single kit. Though it deals less direct damage compared to other weapons, it excels in survival and crowd control.

How to Unlock

To unlock the Aegis, players must block a total of 500 damage using **Armor** while playing as Sir Oofie.

Tips for unlocking:

• Activate the Armor Tome or select Armor gain at Charge Shrines.
• The Armor Tome itself unlocks after defeating 5,000 enemies as Sir Oofie.
• Once the condition is met, the weapon must be purchased in the Unlocks tab for 1 Silver.

Strategy and Synergies

The Aegis is most effective when combined with tank builds that focus on staying close to enemies while mitigating incoming damage. Its shockwaves give it hybrid potential as both a defensive tool and area-control weapon.

• Armor Synergy: Naturally scales with Armor investments; higher mitigation means more time to block and counter.
• Quantity Tome: Increases Projectile Count which will give you more maximum Aegis shields to block damage.
• Thorns Tome / Spiky Shield: Complements the Aegis’s defensive playstyle by dealing even more damage on contact.
• Cooldown Tome: Reduces time before an Aegis is recovered after use.
• Best Character: Athena, due to her blessing of extra Thorns per level and increased damage at low HP.
