Effect Increases overall Armor, reducing incoming damage.

The Armor Tome is a defensive Tome in Megabonk that increases a character’s total Armor. Higher armor reduces the damage taken from enemy hits, making it an essential option for tanky and survival-focused builds. It is not available by default and must be unlocked by fulfilling specific conditions.

Overview

  • Stat: Armor
  • Base upgrade per level: +12%
  • Max level: 99
  • Category: Defensive Tome

Effects

  • Damage taken from all sources is reduced proportionally to your armor stat. Gains have diminishing returns however, and Armor caps out at around 94%. This cap takes much longer to reach than you would assume due to the diminishing returns.

How to Unlock

  • Unlock requirement: Kill 5,000 enemies as Sir Oofie.

This makes it one of the Tomes that requires a specific character to farm enemies in order to obtain.

Synergies

  • Shield Tome: Armor reduces damage taken to Shield allowing it to last longer before breaking and taking HP damage.
  • Thorns Tome: Taking less damage per hit allows you to make much better use of high Thorns damage.
  • Regen Tome / Bloody Tome: Armor reduces damage taken, making every point of health restored proportionally more valuable.
  • Cursed Tome: High difficulty increases the damage enemies deal. Armor helps mitigate this added threat significantly and can allow you to recover from what would otherwise be run ending mistakes.

Strategy Tips

  • Best suited for defensive or hybrid builds that prioritize survival.
  • Effective in long boss fights where incoming damage is sustained over time.
  • Useful for beginners struggling with survivability before mastering dodge mechanics.
  • Investing heavily in Armor Tome can sometimes reduce the need for constant evasive play.

Notes

  • Armor reduction scales linearly per level, but its real effectiveness depends on enemy DPS and how often you take hits.
  • Works best when combined with sustain or mitigation, rather than as a stand-alone defensive layer.
